I was interested in using MEEP to simulate microstrip lines. The question is, how does one define the source in microstrip
configuration? The fields of a microstrip line do not resemble a point source.
I read a few success stories about using a method called bootstrapping. The method involved running
an initial simulation long enough to find the dominant mode and taking a snap shot of the fields. Then running a second
simulation using the saved fields as the source.
My plan was to use MPB to find the field configuration of the dominant mode. The fields could then be input into MEEP.
I still think this is a practical method to use in order to simulate microstrip structures in MEEP. A couple snags have
prevented me from running a successful microstrip simulation. Hopefully, one of you smart people reading this can figure
out how to do it and let me know.
